A Committee of the Indian Parliament has released a report that finally brings clarity after four years of chaos and overreach in Auroville.
The Committee reaffirmed what residents have been saying since 2021:
• Auroville is a community and an Autonomous Body
• The Governing Board cannot rule alone
• The Residents’ Assembly must be involved in all major decisions
• Annapurna farm must not be touched, agriculture, water catchment and food security are essential to Auroville
• The IIT Madras project must be moved elsewhere
• The Governing Board’s mandate has expired and must be reconstituted
• Five-year visas should be granted without delay
• All three bodies: Board, Residents, and International Council, must work together, as intended in the Auroville Act
